It looks like there's not that much surface for glue to hold. How about adding a splint (or tape?) of some kind across the back? .
Something else that you will want to take into consideration is the overall height of the seat for each chair. Adirondack chairs are known for their relaxing slanted design. While this design does help to make them exceptionally comfortable, it does make getting up out of them a bit harder, especially if you have any mobility issues. This can be solved by getting a chair with a higher seat since it will allow you to keep your knees from flexing too much, which will make getting up a whole lot easier.
Online Pricing - While we strive for accuracy, manufacturer online pricing restrictions and ever changing selection makes it unfeasible maintain accuracy on all prices. In the event of a price discrepancy between our website and our showroom, the showroom pricing will be deemed accurate. The prices listed are for the configurations as shown. Changes to finish, color, grade, fabric or leather may lead to price changes. Please contact us and we will be happy to assist you with product pricing and information.
At first, patients sat outside on collapsible steamer chairs or rockers or pulled two stationary chairs together to get comfortable. “They look kind of cold and miserable,” Catania says, referencing photographs of patients bundled in blankets, their feet resting on wooden armchairs. Around the turn of the century came an improvement: The “cure chair,” a chaise lounge-like recliner modeled on those used in European sanatoriums. With wide armrests, an adjustable back and springs that supported a tufted cushion, “It really gave people a much more comfortable way to lie outside,” Catania says. Production of the chairs ensued, with several area residents receiving patents on their designs. Most adopted the lounger profile, but at least one was designed as a reclining chair. We have cheap wood adirondacks from Ho Po that have been repaired, but they were wood. I guess I'm stuck in the middle about those.
When shopping for Poly Lumber Furniture, just take a look at the thickness of the material being used and you will see why our chairs are the most sturdy and long lasting on the market.
There are lots of benefits to getting a plastic Adirondack chair instead of a wooden one. These include the following:
Our focus is your convenience – order online from your laptop, desktop, or smartphone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our fast shipping, low prices, and outstanding customer service make WebstaurantStore the best choice to meet all of your professional and food service supply needs.
Like we said before, one of the biggest benefits of getting a plastic Adirondack chair is that they are so easy to move from place to place. While wooden chairs can easily weigh upwards of 50 or even 60 lbs., plastic models usually top out at around 35-40 lbs.
A key part of that treatment involved prolonged exposure to the region’s cold, dry mountain air. “It’s one of the things you notice when you come to the Adirondacks,” notes Catania. “The air smells better, feels better.”
You can fold your poly lumber furniture for convenient and easy storage. The biggest problem most people have with the standard Adirondack chairs is the inability to fold them and store them easily. That is not a concern with the “new and improved” poly furniture!

The chair is very comfortable, much improved over other chair designs. The plans are good but additional detail would help in some areas
Over time, the design has been tweaked and improved upon. Often contemporary Adirondack chairs will feature a seashell style rounded back, and a sloping seat base for comfort. These modifications were originally the idea of Irving Wolpin, who redesigned the chair in 1938 and also received a patent on it.

Gilborn acknowledges that the multiplicity of designs and dearth of documentation make it difficult to be definitive about the chair’s heritage. But that, he says, exemplifies the wilderness spirit from which it was born. “Going to the Adirondacks you leave everything behind, including the rules of behavior and documentation,” he says. “It’s part fun and part irresponsibility.”
