Mine was doing chalky powder too I found out that it was too hot out and the mist when I was spraying was drying before touching the plastic. So I used a micro fiber cloth wipe off the plastic table I was doing and put another coat once it started to get dark out no chalky powder. I should have known. Assembly took me around 2 hours at a relaxed pace. Where the screws go through they are pre-drilled. Where the screws are suppose to line up there is a little dimple. Which is sometimes hard to see. Also, I was worried about splitting the wood, so I pre-drilled some of these spots.
These chairs are built with stainless steel hardware for a rust-free finish, and all of the fasteners are not visible when the chair is viewed from the front. This gives a completely solid color facade, which is nice. One can see the screws on the seat, however.
